Kachina Peak Camp Zone

Festival Camping

Kachina Peak Camp Zone is nestled at the base of Kachina Peak, two miles from the festival grounds and adjacent to The Bavarian Lodge and Restaurant. There are numerous hiking trails in the area, with the trailhead to Williams Lake located nearby. There is also a spectacular waterfall just above the campground.

All camping passes are valid for three nights Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Single day camping passes are not available. You may camp for one night however the price is the same as a three night pass.

There will be an RV area and a pedestrian only camping area.

TENT CAMPING

  • First come first serve basis
  • Plan on being close to your neighbor
  • Please respect your neighbor and noise
  • Quiet hours start at 2:00am.
  • No vehicles will be allowed in this area
  • Specific sites cannot be reserved in advance
  • You will be allowed to drive adjacent to campground one half hour to unload then directed to park your vehicle for free off-site parking

RV CAMPING

  • Very limited number of RV passes available
  • RV's must be 22 feet in length or less. The road to the campground is a two mile dirt road with some steep pitches
  • Every occupant of RV must purchase a three day camping pass
  • No RV hook-ups
  • RV's MUST be self-contained
  • Dump station is available at Public Works in the Village of Taos Ski Valley – nominal fee
  • Once RV is parked it must remain parked during your entire stay
  • RV camping is located next to the Bavarian Lodge where there will be a free show Friday and Saturday night as late as 2:00 AM

CAMPING INFORMATION

  • Campground Hours:
    1. Campground opens at 12:00 PM Friday, August 19 and your site must be cleaned and vacated by 12:00 PM Monday, August 22.
  • Public Restrooms with toilets and sinks (no showers) are on location. There are no electrical outlets in the restrooms.
  • Black Diamond Espresso
  • Black Diamond Espresso "Backside" hut will be open in the Camp Zone serving a full espresso menu, breakfast items and fresh baked goodies only steps away from the official festival campground. Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday starting at 7:30 am.
  • There are no stores in the Kachina Peak Camp Zone so get your supplies in the Town of Taos or the Village of Taos Ski Valley convenience store called "Bumps" open 9 AM – 9 PM.
  • Kachina Peak Camp Zone will be providing free drinking water to all campers. Please bring reusable water bottles.
  • Camping / Festival Shuttle:
    1. Free shuttle between campground and festival grounds
      Shuttle Schedule:
      Saturday, August 20 10:00 AM until Midnight
      Sunday, August 21 9:00 AM until 10:00 PM
  • The sites (both for tents and RV's max 22') are not improved. They are on relatively level but uneven open ground which has a rock content.
  • There are no utilities. (There are three RV Parks in the Town of Taos which provide dumping for a fee.)
  • Do not carve, cut, chop or damage any live trees or native plant material.
  • All material including trash must be removed from your site and properly disposed of before checking out of the campground. Please remember "LEAVE NO TRACE".
  • There will be designated "Group Fire Pits"
    1. Please do not create your own fire pits
      Group pits are for sharing as a common area
      Please do not set up your tents near these pits
      Bring Instruments for Fire Jams
      Fires may be prohibited if there are any State or Local fire bans at the time of the festival
  • Only Festival pass holders may purchase festival camping passes – both festival and camping wrist bands will be required
  • Kids 11 and under are FREE
  • Pets - Due to the limited space and facilities, sorry there are NO pets allowed in the campground area. If you need to board your animal, there is a "pet resort" located just west of the turn off to Taos Ski Valley, www.10000wags.com.

SECURITY AND PERSONAL SAFETY

  • Although there will be campground personnel in the area at all times, YOU are responsible for the security of your personal items.
  • The campground is located at an elevation of 10,200 feet above sea level. Be aware of the risks of altitude sickness and be familiar with the symptoms.
  • This is BEAR COUNTRY. For your safety and the safety of all others, be especially careful with food, coolers, garbage and any fragrant personal items. Do not leave any of these items in your tent, especially at night. They should be locked in the trunk of your vehicle. Any food garbage must be properly disposed of in the provided receptacles. Keep your site clean and please remember to "LEAVE NO TRACE".
